Sailing into the Future

IBSA Iberia successfully concludes the second edition of our Inclusive Sailing Academy

IBSA and IBSA Iberia continue to strengthen their commitment to diversity and inclusion through sport, supporting the Adapted Sailing School for the second consecutive year. This initiative reinforces their belief in sailing as a tool for social integration and personal development.

In October, the second edition of the IBSA Iberia Inclusive Sailing Academy came to an end. This programme has enabled 10 young people and children with different types and degrees of disability to discover and develop their skills in the world of sailing. A particularly noteworthy fact is that 8 of the 10 participants returned from last year, demonstrating the programme’s educational value and motivational impact.

A SEASON FOR GROWTH

Between May and October, students attended weekly sessions where they worked not only on sailing techniques, but also on boat preparation, marine knowledge and sailing terminology.
Additionally, in August they took part in an intensive two-week summer camp, which allowed them to consolidate their learning and further develop their independence on the water.

The season culminated in a regatta among the IBSA Iberia team members, a milestone that reflects the group’s remarkable progress. Montse Renom, Director of the Inclusive Sailing School, stated: “This season they have been able to learn all the competition rules, start training and take part in their first regatta. A great step forward for all of them.”

IBSA Iberia will continue supporting the club and the team in 2026, so that these young sailors can continue developing and progressing along their sporting and personal journey.
