Therapeutic areas

At IBSA Iberia, we launch our new Uro-gynaecology therapeutic area

At IBSA Iberia, we are taking another step forward in our mission to accompany people throughout every stage of their lives and their well-being. Today, we present our new uro-gynaecology therapeutic area, dedicated to intimate and sexual health. Through this area, we address conditions which, despite their strong impact on quality of life, often remain invisible or are faced in silence, such as vulvovaginal atrophy, cystitis, Peyronie’s disease and erectile dysfunction.

OUR COMMITMENT TO INTIMATE HEALTH

We reaffirm our commitment to the uro-gynaecological field, an area in constant evolution that requires an integrated vision in which scientific research, innovation, attention to the Person, and quality of life advance together. Indeed, IBSA believes everyone should have the chance to feel fully alive — in their body, their emotions, and their intimacy.

Our uro-gynaecology therapeutic area focuses on aspects of well-being that are often difficult to talk about, yet can affect how people feel and relate to themselves and others.
We develop solutions designed to support intimate and urological health, helping people reconnect with sensation, confidence, and closeness. We design each solution to help people feel more comfortable and confident in their intimate health journey.

We are working across different therapeutic fronts:

  • Vulvovaginal atrophy: This condition is characterised by symptoms such as pain, dyspareunia, burning, itching and vaginal dryness, due to physical changes in the vulva, vagina and lower urinary tract. The loss of tissue hydration and elasticity can affect quality of life, particularly in the intimate sphere. IBSA has developed a solution based on NAHYCO® technology, offering an innovative approach to women’s intimate well-being.

  • Cystitis: This condition affects millions of individuals worldwide, with significant repercussions on everyday activities. The recurrence of symptoms such as burning, pain and urinary urgency impairs overall well-being, negatively impacting social and working life, also with potential psychological consequences. IBSA is committed to raising awareness about prevention, as well as to developing hyaluronic acid-based products which help prevent damage to the urothelium and to restore its integrity.

  • Peyronie's disease: a serious condition, often kept quiet due to embarrassment or social stigma, which causes a fibrous thickening that retracts and deforms the penis, altering its shape during erection.

  • Erectile dysfunction: A common and often underestimated condition affecting an increasing number of men, especially those over 40. Its causes can be physical, psychological, or a combination of both, and it can have a significant impact on quality of life. IBSA is continuously exploring innovative therapeutic solutions, staying ahead of industry advancements and reaffirming its commitment to innovation and the ongoing enhancement of men's well-being.

A GROWING AND CONSOLIDATED THERAPEUTIC PORTFOLIO

Since our arrival in Spain in 2019, we have progressively consolidated a solid and strategic therapeutic portfolio that now encompasses four key areas: fertility, aesthetic medicine, osteoarticular health, and uro-gynaecology. With this expansion, we further strengthen IBSA Iberia’s positioning within the Spanish and Portuguese pharmaceutical sectors.
